In 1991, Laguna Properties Holdings Inc. (LPHI) was established by Ayala Land to provide the housing needs of employees and junior executives in Laguna Technopark, having its logo mark with the letters L and H, wittingly formed the letter A to show strong association with its parent company. LPHI developed communities in Laguna areas, and eventually expanded in other locations such as Batangas, Quezon and Bicol.

In 1998, opened a satellite office in Dubai to cater to overseas-based Filipinos

In 2006, LPHI changed its name to Avida which means a celebration of life. With the new name, it position itself as a leading provider of affordable homes to Filipino families in ideal communities that secure their future, backed by the strenght of its parent company, Ayala Land Inc.
